Keeping Charleston Local

For 21 years, Ted’s Butcherblock has been proud to be a small, locally owned business in Charleston. We’ve watched our community grow and change, and we’ve experienced firsthand both the rewards—and the challenges—of running an independent business.

One thing hasn’t changed: We believe that local businesses are a big part of what makes Charleston special.

That’s why we’re pleased to announce that Lowcountry Local First is our featured nonprofit for the fourth quarter of 2026.

This is an organization we’ve supported many times over the years, and one whose mission is particularly meaningful to us. LLF works to strengthen the local economy by supporting independent businesses through advocacy, education, resources and programs that help local businesses succeed.

And the timing is perfect.

October marks the beginning of LLF’s annual Buy Local Season, a three-month effort encouraging residents and visitors to shop, dine and spend with local, independent businesses throughout the holiday season.

Shopping local doesn’t have to mean changing everything about the way you shop. Sometimes it simply means looking a little closer to home before heading to a big-box store or clicking “buy.” For example:

  • Need a gift? Look for a local business.

  • Planning dinner? Try a locally owned restaurant.

  • Need a service? See who’s operating right here in the Lowcountry.

If you’re looking for ideas, LLF makes it easy with its Certified Local Business Directory, which features hundreds of locally owned businesses throughout the area.

We’ll be helping to promote Buy Local Season at our Friday Night Dinners for a Cause through the end of the year, and LLF will be the beneficiary of 10% of proceeds from Friday Dinner sales during Buy Local Season..

We’re grateful to have the opportunity to give back to an organization that shares our belief that a strong local economy makes for a stronger community.

Thank you for supporting Ted’s — and all of the locally owned businesses that help make Charleston the place we love to call home.
